I Am Not The Sun

I am not the sun
Even if you are the moon.
My meagre light is not enough
To illuminate the face
You show to the world.

I am not the sun
So, this one simple flame
That stutters, that flickers,
As I try to hold it all together
Could never be enough
To illuminate all of you.

Even if you are the moon
You dance out of reach
Of all the arms stretching out
To take you, pull you down
To crush you against mountains
Or drown you in their seas.
