The Door

Well now, think of this. Is this what you wanted when you spoke of your desires? Is this how you thought it would be? Have your dreams and desires come true?
The mind creeps on in its own way, down its own corridors and passageways, searching for that one door which leads to the special place. The door that you keep closed. The door that you hurry past, refusing to acknowledge its existence.
Except….
Except for those times when you are alone with the knowledge of what you keep behind that door. Only when you know you are truly alone, alone and safe, will you dare to creep down that dusty corridor towards that one particular door.
Even then, when you know you are alone, you hesitate. Your sweating hand on the doorknob trembles. You lick your dry lips and turn to look all around you for the slightest possibility of movement. Your ears are alert for the slightest sound, but all you can hear is the fast heavy throbbing of your own blood, your own heartbeat.
Only now are you ready to open that door.
