Thursday Poem: Secret Keys

clip_image002

Secret Keys

She has so many keys, collecting them
All since she was such a very young girl
To lock her secrets deep inside her dreams
Where no one could rip them away from her
And let them flutter broken to the ground
To fall into muddy pools and be lost
So far beyond her reach for ever more.

She has such delicate and fragile dreams
So easily broken by this hard world
So many secrets she dare not utter
In case the world is listening to her.
It has too many ears, listening out
Ready to take everyone’s own secrets
And spread them out for the whole world to see.
