This sand churned by the mysterious
Precise rituals of the beach
By the rites of holy holiday.
The offerings of anointed flesh
Stretched out in eager sacrifice
Willing devotion to the sun god.
Wearing the scourge of his hot anger
On arms, backs, shoulders, burning pride,
Holy stigmata of the devout.
